In early 2022, the Media-K Project launched a pilot educational content
program aimed at promoting media literacy through kyrgyz akyns – poets improvisers and teaching them new media to reach a wide online audience.
The program envisages training, expert, technical, as well as scholarship support for the production of content, holding a competition on social networks and organizing the final aitysh – competition in poetic skills within the framework of the “Bilim Aitysh” project.
The project has been proceeding for the third year in an upgraded format with the participation of akyns who create songs on socially important topics, raise the problems of gender equality, family violence, reasonable and environmentally friendly consumption, and speak of the importance of fostering moral values in the younger generation.
In addition, in 2023, a group of manaschy from the Manas National Theater sought support from Internews in Kyrgyzstan and won a chance to learn mobilography and social media promotion of their work as original content.
The main request of the performers of the folk epic works of art was to convey vital universal meanings and values laid down in “Manas” to modern audiences, especially to the youth.
