Internews is looking for two collaborators for a regional project aimed at improving objective and balanced coverage of current events in Central Asia, including conflicts and crises.
This is a project for media in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, within the framework of which it is planned to implement the second phase and two vacancies with the possibility of being based in Bishkek or Dushanbe.
The regional project manager oversees the project in the two countries, is responsible for the implementation and the result of the project as a whole.
The project manager supervises the project in his country, and contributes to the regional project’s effective implementation.
- Regional Project Manager
The Regional Project Manager will oversee the logistical support and implementation of project activities, tasks, and deliverables in the two countries, as well as manage the overall communication of the project in the country, including partner organizations and beneficiaries where he/she is located. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the project is aligned with its objectives as set out in the project, as well as for cooperation between the Kyrgyz and Tajik project teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide programmatic, administrative, logistical and logistical management of all project-supported activities in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan that are being carried out in both countries.
- Potential responsibilities may include establishing and maintaining contacts with local media, editors, journalists, bloggers, active citizens, and other relevant stakeholders, potentially including relevant government agencies; liaising with beneficiaries, event speakers, trainers and participants; interaction with project staff in another country in conducting joint events or creating/promoting content, and other duties.
- Management of communication and coordination of the project between the Tajikistan Country Team and the Kyrgyz team.
- Coordination of recruitment and travel logistics for trainers, consultants and event participants together with the project team. Responsibilities may include helping with travel and lodging arrangements, collecting and compiling hiring materials, etc.
- Creative work with the project team and participants/beneficiaries to develop content ideas, ensure the activity and involvement of participants in the project.
- Developing and maintaining relations with civil society and interested institutions/individuals to ensure their understanding, contribution and participation in the project.
- Monitor project activities and outcomes in the country, including collaboration with grantees, with the support of the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and the Head Office.
- Prepare quarterly reports on the program with the participation of the team; editing of all program reports on the project in both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
- Be aware of the media situation, conflicts and issues of disinformation/hate speech in the region.
- Identify and report on any changes or issues related to planned project activities.
- To act in accordance with the policy of Internews, adhering to the mission and core values of the organization.
- Successfully apply knowledge of the content production process, which includes skills in developing a concept, technical specification, scenario plan, as well as understanding the stages of content production.
Required qualifications:
- More than 7 years of successful experience working with media or development projects, preferably in the field of media;
- Relevant higher education;
- Deep understanding of the situation and problems of the media in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, including conflict-sensitive journalism, as well as the field of disinformation and hate speech;
- Excellent analytical and writing skills;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills;
- Experience in preparing expenditure and budget reports;
- Willingness to learn and implement secure means of communication;
- Proven organizational skills with increased attention to detail;
- Fluency in Russian, English and local languages (Tajik or Kyrgyz) at a professional level;
- Project Manager
The Project Manager will provide logistical support and implementation of project activities, tasks in the country where he/she is located, as well as manage project communication in the country, including partner organizations and beneficiaries. He/she will work closely with the Regional Project Manager and contribute to the regional project’s effective implementation.
Job Responsibilities
- The Project Manager will oversee the logistical support and implementation of the project in the country, responsible for the implementation of all project activities in the country and their completion according to the schedule, scope of work, objectives and budget; analyze the results of the project; supervise the work of technical experts; and maintain relationships with beneficiaries and partners.
- Coordinate recruitment and travel logistics for trainers, consultants, and event attendees in conjunction with the Project Manager. Responsibilities may include helping with travel and lodging arrangements, collecting and compiling hiring materials, etc.
Required qualifications:
- More than 5 years of successful experience working with media or development projects, preferably in the field of media;
- Relevant higher education;
- In-depth understanding of media issues in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, including the field of disinformation and hate speech;
- Excellent analytical and writing skills;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills;
- Experience in preparing expenditure and budget reports;
- Willingness to learn and implement secure means of communication;
- Proven organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail;
- Fluency in Russian, English and local languages (Tajik or Kyrgyz) at a professional level.
