In the new phase of Media-K, priority is given to regional Kyrgyz-language online media. In 2023, Internews in the Kyrgyz Republic supports three partners: T-Media, Salam Media and AOSMI – regional media centers of the Association of Community Media.
This year, all supported key partners are focused on online platforms development and capacity building in the field of SMM and mobilography.

T-Media pays special attention to the monetization of online content. Together with mentors, it is planned to develop standards for the preparation and placement of native material.

In April, the editorial office of Salam Media hosted a residency of media coach Mars Tulegenov. The team took a theoretical course on journalist ethics, as well as a practical course on the use of stand-ups in videos, writing texts for a radio host, producing content on a smartphone, and post-production skills. Media-K SMM specialists trained Salam Media employees in the specifics of working in social networks and analyzing statistical data to improve media planning.

In May, most of the AOSMI team underwent a multi-day training on news, SMM and mobilography at the Internews training center in the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek.

Also, regional journalists learned how to work with government agencies and form requests for information relevant to residents.
As part of the support of the AOSM, the Media-K project plans to develop a guide for the operation and maintenance of pages in social networks in the Kyrgyz language.
AOSMI constantly participate in training events, which contributes to strengthening the capacity of regional media centers to create relevant and high-quality content.
Media-K’s key partners will undergo a digital security audit, and editorial staff will be trained in digital hygiene skills and receive basic knowledge on how to avoid a cyberattack, and secure editorial resources and their accounts from external digital threats.
Next year’s call for institutional support for key partners will be announced in the fall of 2023.
