Internews announces the acceptance of applications for participation in the annual competition in the field of professional journalism in Kyrgyzstan “Umtuluu-2024”.
Purpose of the competition
Encouragement of professionalism of employees of the country’s media companies, journalists who are aware of their civic and professional responsibility to the audience and society as a whole, as well as the development of the modern information sphere of the Kyrgyz Republic. The competition is aimed at stimulating public discussion about important and difficult topics in terms of interpretation, to which there are not always ready answers.
Nominations of the competition
Internews will award the best authors who submit to the competition high-quality journalistic works created in any media format on the following topics:
- Public Interest
- Peace and harmony
- Child protection
- Environmental protection
- Culture and education
- A man acting
Also, the Umtuluu-2024 Award will be awarded in special categories:
— Recognition of colleagues for their commitment to the theme “Heritage: Historical Memory, Language, Culture”, where the media community will determine the winner through online voting. Internews will announce the beginning and place of voting additionally.
– “In Memory of Tairzhan Tursunaliev”, where the prize is awarded for a great contribution to the development of regional journalism.
The Internews’s Competition Commission will determine the winner of this special award.
The competition participants
Authors of journalistic materials first published from January 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024 (1 year 8 months) will be able to participate in the competition, regardless of the type of media.
Applications for the competition can be submitted by the authors or the media companies nominating them, except for international media representatives.
