Online session "Disinformation in social media during elections”
Internews in Kyrgyzstan host a session on disinformation online on September 10 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Bishkek time in English with simultaneous translation into Kyrgyz and Russian.
Registration ends on September 9 at 16.00 Bishkek time.
An online session will focus on documentation of harmful and inauthentic activity on social media, including disinformation and dangerous speech. The session will include a discussion of policies and enforcement practices for platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Case studies from several countries will be presented, along with some practical lessons for journalists and civil society.
Rafiq Copeland (Australia) is Senior Advisor for Global Platform Accountability at Internews, working to hold global technology platforms accountable for their role in healthy information environments around the world. Prior to focusing on technology platforms, Rafiq’s work was in humanitarian accountability and community media.
