Three-day intensive training for regional journalists started in Bishkek

The orientation training within the framework of the Internews scholarship program in the Kyrgyz Republic for regional journalism is taking place from March 27 to March 29 for participants from Kyrgyz-language media from all regions of the country.

During the training, mentors will acquaint the participants with the mission of journalism and the principles of determining the target audience. They will learn international standards of journalism, features of decision journalism, criteria for selecting a topic. Students of the course will be told about modern genres and formats of journalism, the peculiarities of working with sources, and the ethics of a journalist.

Elina Karakulova, Director of the Representative Office of Internews in the Kyrgyz Republic, opening the training, urged the participants to effectively use the opportunity to work with experienced mentors, ask the maximum number of questions and complete the course with maximum benefit for themselves.

- We want to qualitatively improve the regional media and materials that will be published about the regions and for the regions to reflect an important cross-section of local problems. We have high hopes for this program, in the end we hope that it will be possible to grow the “stars” and “diamonds” of domestic regional journalism and give you the opportunity to develop further,” she said.

Young journalists from the regions will learn about the features of text, audio and video information, fact and data checking, the legal and digital security of a journalist, and data storage tools.

The coaches are Maksuda Aitieva, Azamat Tynaev, Elima Dzhaparova from the Internews team in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as invited mentors Mars Tulegenov, Zamira Kozhobaeva, Gulzat Gazieva, Manap Sorombaev.
